Oh, Crud

As I write this, the tide is high, the wind is blowing stink, there is a mist, a rain blows through now and again, we were dragging anchor, reset and then dragged again so the chain is now wrapped around a mooring ball that is past its useful life. But we are holding and taking a breather. The wind should decrease about the same time the tide is low so we are hoping to clear the anchor and head out. We had been looking forward to coming here for the last year and you cannot know how disappointed we are.
All this occurred after a really tiring day of sail to get here, which included over four hours of tacking to windward in the ocean swells. The waves and swells became very chaotic as we rounded Slyne Head. Paul's sister, Mary, is quite the trooper and is handling it well. She feeds us and does dishes and keeps our spirits pumped up. And sits quietly out of the way when we are struggling.
Last night for dinner we took the easy way and popped some canned pot pies in the oven, which I had purchased for an occasion such as this. It was quick, easy, the oven warmed up the cabin and they were delicious! But then again, at that point, just about anything would have been good.
This anchorage is a little area and littered with crab pots. So frustrating. The other sailboat here has also been dragging and then their anchor got caught on something. This anchorage is so pretty, but we are out of here the first chance we get. There looks to be a better spot around the other side of the island so we will try that one.
