We finally had a good weather window and wind from the right direction and we headed out. The highlight was passing around Achill Head. The cliffs are the tallest in Ireland at 665 meters. We stood out from the very head 4.5 nm and still had very large and confused seas, and struggled against 1.5 knots of tidal current. But it was breathtaking going by the cliffs on the north side. We put down an anchor in Elly Bay, which thankfully was a great spot. The winds overnight were gale force but we were secure.
