New port
07 January 2015 | Monfalcone, Italy
Nokomis
Wow, did we hit some rough weather coming up to Monfalcone, Italy. We had over 27 knots of wind, gusting over 30 knots, and right on our nose. Tracer, this ship I am riding on, normally goes over 15 knots, but in this wind could not even go 10 knots. No way would I have done this on my own hull, I was even beginning to feel seasick! We finally made it, but a day later than planned. We are at the north end of the Adriatic Sea, very close to Slovenia. Monfalcone is as far north as Minneapolis. I am not as cold as Paul and Vicki are in Minneapolis, but it does get down to freezing at night. I can see several recreational marinas close by, but most of the boats seem to be up on land. Not sure how long we will be here, or where we will head to next.
