Sailing around the Caribbean
In 2007 our family sailed from the Chesapeake Bay to the Caribbean, visiting most of the islands and stopping in Cartagena, Colombia for hurricane season. We just returned to the Chesapeake after visiting many Central American countries and islands.

Bay of Taganga

We had heard of the beauty of this bay so after leaving La Quinta de San Pedro Alejandrino we took a taxi and went to Taganga Bay. As we climbed over the Sierra we saw impressive views of the city. We arrived to Taganga in about 15 minutes as it was just on the other side of the hill. We loved the views of the bay from the hike we took around the bay and up and over to the next 2 bays. However, the town of Taganga was rather disappointing. Filled with cheap-looking bars and restaurants, amid an overwhelming heat with no wind and dogs scouring for food all, we felt no desire to stay there. After our hike we headed back to Santa Marta to get ready for our trip to the park the next morning.
