The first leg of our road journey takes us north from San Diego, through Las Vegas and into southwest Utah.
Now we have gone to Vegas many times and usually stay near or on the famous strip, but this time chose to try a different area. We tried the South Point resort/casino. The same nice room, the same smell of desperation in the casino, and a new wrinkle for this trip- Cowboys and Cowgirls. I found out that the South Point facility caters to the rodeo crowd- not that a good rodeo isn’t exciting, not that the folks aren’t generally pretty good people, but the music piped though the casino sounded like fingernails on a chalkboard to me and I have never seen so many cowboy hats!
We were pretty bushed, but did find time to contribute to the lighting bill by throwing a little money in the hole.
Up and at it early, we hit the road to St. George. If you haven’t had the opportunity to drive up the Virgin River Canyon, put it on your list- so very impressive. Anyway St George is finished and heading to Beaver. This part of Utah is spectacular and we are really lucky to be cruising though here.
