Dan/ Sunny and warm!
In the saddle again! We flew in yesterday from Phoenix with more than a little trepidation as to what awaited us, not only on the boat, but also the process of flying in carrying a bunch of stuff for the boat.
Well after figuring out that buying the first class upgrade would only be $40 each, since we would have had $60 in baggage fees if we didn't and it also gets us out and into the customs line faster, we made the purchase and enjoyed the 1 hour 40 minute flight in comfort.
As we were waiting for the luggage to be unloaded I approached the Customs Officer, and in my halting espanol, explained about us arriving with equipment and provided a full list to him in English and Spanish. I think he was convinced that I wasn't trying to open a marine store and just ended up waving us through. Whew!
When we got back to the boat, we didn't really know what to expect- we had a local craftsman remove our teak decking while we were gone. He did an awesome job! Smooth, and almost ready to be covered. All that is left to do is to remove the hardware that is through-bolted and smooth those areas and we will be covering the decks with Durabak, which Lew and Tamberlyn on Puddle Pirate ( http://www.sailblogs.com/member/ankley/ ) are so kindly bringing down the coast for us.
We are going to be cleaning and putting away things for a few days and I will be planning the nav system upgrade that I will doing with all the goodies I brought with us.
Well, off to the Mercado to restock!
