Dan/ Sunny and warm!
For Miles.
We braved the possibility of heavy crowds as Carnaval kicks into gear and caught a Red Truck ride into the Centro District with the crew from Puddle Pirate to show them around the historic area.
I’ll just fire off some of the impressions-
Red Trucks are a small pickup truck with benches in the bed and a cover over the top giving us an exciting ride that would be outlawed in an instant in the US!
We were dropped off a couple of blocks shy of Plazuela Machado as the street vendors and security presence has the plaza completely surrounded.
Arriving at Casa Connobia to share the wonder of this place with a new crew, Ernesto welcomed us with open arms and gave us a prime table overlooking the plaza. The pizza, while pretty darn good, had a bit too much of the great cheese- but it did disappear quickly!
We just wandered a bit but it was starting to get a little crowded so we worked our way back to the Plazuela.
There was a lot of music playing everywhere, but we were stopped in our tracks by a four person group outside of Pedro Y Lola’s wailing out the blues. Totally unexpected!
Then we wandered up through the street vendors and acquired the requisite mask and trifles while finding some pretty good taste treats as well.
Caught a ride back on the luxury bus (9.5 pesos pp)
All in all- another fun evening.
And one that left everyone grinning from ear-to-ear.
