Dan- warm to hot
A quick update
As I may have noted, we are in the yard for some needed bottom and topside work.
We are having the bottom stripped of accumulated paint and an epoxy barrier coat applied- for boaters this means something for those who don’t know- it basically is like taking all of the paint off of the house, applying a waterproof coating to it and then repainting. Gee, doesn’t sound as cool as it does on a boat……
Another major undertaking is the topside decking. We originally had teak decks and cabin top, but due to the odd construction of the cabin top teak and the incredible amount of heat that teak absorbs we first removed the teak and then applied a product called “Durabak” an industrial coating used in some cases as a truck bedliner.
The specs on the Durabak looked good but the real world had other ideas and we decided to do something different. We have selected Treadmaster “smooth” in White Sand as our decking material. http://www.tiflex-online-shop.co.uk/index.php/tm-marine/original-decking/smooth-pattern-original/tu-011356-detail
This will involve a bit of prep work as well as more than a little painstaking pattern making!
So on with the fun!
