Prepping for a 'pecker

Tehuantapecker that is- Sheesh you have a dirty mind!
Our next leg is our longest yet for this seasons run, 440 miles or so across a notoriously nasty chunk of water called the Gulf of Tehuantepec.
The Gulf is just on the downwind side of the Gulf of Mexico and the winds from there get funneled into a relatively small gap of low laying land and burst onto the Pacific side with more than a little gusto. These wind events are called Tehuantepeckers for obvious reasons- sounding risqué being the primary one.
There is currently one of these t-peckers blowing and the winds are well over 45 kts. Just not fun for anyone trying cross right now. The seas are building to over 20 ft along with this little blow and that makes for even more pucker factor.
So we sit and wait- which is fine, we are safe and secure here at the Marina Chahue, finding great food and fun in the little town of La Crucecita, and fixing things as usual.
Looks to be a good long break in the weather starting Tuesday and we have initiated the check-out process as this is our last port of call in Mexico. Really sad about it too, we have had a wonderful and enlightening time here. We will truly miss all of the friends we leave in our wake, while anticipating meeting them again downwind somewhere. We are also really looking forward to all of those new friends that we have yet to meet!
