Moving across Mobile Bay

We finally relocated Tiki across Mobile Bay on the intercoastal to Homeport Marina. Lots of fun with Lulu's restaurant onsite. The bridge noise can be loud at times with hatches open but you get used it.

Sad departure from home base Pickwick Landing

We finally got off the dock at around 925a after having some final chores to do. The weather has turned off cold and will stay that way a couple of days.

Leslie / cold 50 with 25mph winds
We called the lock and they said we could not lock through until 0900.

After setting up the fenders and fender board for the lock we headed to top off fuel and head for the lock arrival point. We found one other cruiser waiting along with the couple in the ranger tug "Pour House" that we met at Bay Springs

We made 4 locks today and 35.3 miles. It was very cold on the water and slow going.

The 86 foot drop on Whitten Lock is quite scary. It is a long way down and lots of scary creaks and water coming through the lock walls at the most random places.

The next three locks were smaller and faster.

Smithville Marina for overnight along side the dock for a good nights sleep.

We will shoot for Columbus Marina for tomorrow.
