19 months & counting

Trenten Reef Paul turned 19 months yesterday and I can hardly believe how quickly the time has past since his birth in Papeete, Tahiti. We have been on quite an adventure, as always.

Moorea

We have, (sadly), just dropped Christina and Nicola off at the airport in Tahiti after a week out anchored off the island of Moorea. What a wonderful week full of fun. The ladies hit the spa!, hiking and swimming with Sting Rays and Sharks. The water in Moorea is really clear blue hues. We had a [...]

Papeete, Tahiti

We are anchored off marina Taina in Papeete, the main city on the island of Tahiti. This is the only 'big city' (250,000) we have seen in several months. It is a mix of European French & casual islander. The large verdant island soars into the sky and is mostly surrounded by a coral barrier reef. [...]

Happy Halloween

31 October 2011 | Costa Rica
Erin
First of all we would like to give a huge, huge, HUGE thank you to Dan and all the staff at Marina Papagayo for the wonderful Halloween dinner and send off party that you threw for the cruisers. Your hospitality has been above and beyond our entire stay and as with most of Costa Rica we have been welcomed with warm open arms. We will miss you.

Costa Rica has been a jewel. Just in the last couple weeks (between the endless departure yacht work) we tried to get one last look at C.R's fine beauty. In two weeks we have seen a jaguarundi (small jaguar) run across the beach while we were having lunch, at least 3 trees full of howler monkeys, huge sea turle, enjoyed the white sand beach and swimming in the warm waters, Kudamundi, at least 4 different tropical birds, spotted eagle ray, whales and after all the hard work we took a soak in our neighborhood natural hotsprings! THANK YOU WORLD - YOU ARE GOOD TO US!

We are throwing the dock lines and heading out this afternoon. We are planning a couple stops along the C.R coast and then onto Panama. Len is checking out of the country from here as we had to apply for a mechanical extention on our vessel last month. (entirely other story) We got a great lead from our yacht neighbor who gave us the name and how-to check into Panama within an hour. "Dont even drop your hook" he said. The check in point is in Puerto Armulles just around the corner once you cross into Panama. We have submitted all of our documents excluding the international Zarpe and we just call him 48 hours in advance and all of the authorities will be waiting to come out to our boat with their stamp-pads. This way we dont have to do the leg work in the city or worry about being in the country too long before checking in. We are really eager to get out the the Pearl Islands and not have to worry about any paperwork!

The next horizon is calling. It is always hard to depart but I am very thankful for just that.

See you in Panama.
