Rent a Yurt; $600 Night

15 February 2011 | Isla Secas
The Secas Islands are about 20 miles beyond Isla Parida, and we had a nice sail in flat water. There is a fancy resort onshore that rents out yurts for $600. Our next stop is Isla Coiba, the largest island in Pacific Mesoamericas, tomorrow or the next day and are hopeful that the Panamanian government has reduced the fees for visiting this World Heritage Site and National Park. It was about $120/night for park fees and the right to anchor which is pretty pricey. On the other hand it is difficult to get to unless you have a boat so quite untouched. The island is part of the same mountain chain that includes Cocos Island and the Galapagos. It used to be a prison island and everyone steered clear but is now felon free.
