Blowing hard in the Keys

21 July 2010 | Marathon, Florida Keys
Doug - the bad stuff is coming!
As it turns out, it was a brilliant decision to leave the boat at home for this quick trip to the Florida Keys. It has blown very hard since before we got here and is forecast to remain blowing hard all week. Then NOAA expects that tropical storm over Hispaniola to reach the Keys by this weekend. We would have not had one good day of good sailing during our time in the Keys. All the dive and snorkel boats have canceled their trips. You know it must be rough when they turn away business.
So we are playing tourist, enjoying the Keys' "unbeaten path" parts. Heading home Friday...
