Sail on Kiwi II

Setting Sail 2024

Staging for tomorrow

We departed Harbour Isle Marina at 7:45 am and motored down the IWC to St. Lucie inlet. The temperature was 72 degrees, winds calm and overall sunny with a few area showers. Nice out the inlet, breeze picked up so sails went up and then the jib came down. The wind was from the south southeast so not really a sailing day. We decided to leave the main up and that turned out to be a good call. Stablized the boat and made for a nice ride. Flying fish were out but the dozens and yes there were Dolphins. We encountered two separate groups. The first was in the distance so hard to really pick up but the second group did not disappoint. Two beautiful dolphins got some air...about a 9.8 for both, and within a few seconds of each other right off the bow. No, I did not get a picture. Really? It happened so fast and we were so stunned and awed. No thought of getting a picture. Just enjoyed the moment. We entered Lake Worth Inlet at approximately 3:45pm and were fully tucked in at anchor by 4:15 pm.

We opened a bottle of Champagne, blessed the boat with a Sailors Prayer, made an offering of Champagne to King Neptune and enjoyed a nice sunset before going below to get ready for tomorrow.

We prepped the life vests, jack lines, spotlight, and flir. Put up the radar deflector and figured it was time to take a rest.
For all that know us well, that's when we discovered....we had a issue. But of course... It may be a short vacation. 😳

Ok, blog interuptus..... All is well, we are back on track.

So the plan:

Departure at 4 am... Stay tuned for our next entry and destination. Also check out the map. We plan to update at the next stop.
