Sailing!!!!!
Today we leave for Spanish Cay. Our hope is we get to do a full day of sailing. After all that is why we have that mast! I mentioned it was hard to leave GTC and it was. Dave dinged over to say good bye. All of our fellow sailors were heading to various Cays or like us staging to head back to Florida. Ray and Betsy were heading to North Eluthera. Air Journey did their itinerary so they were in the best hands to ensure they make the most of all their stops in the Bahamas. No one wanted to leave.
We finally ripped off the Velcro and left the dock at 9:10 am. Yikes, half the day is over. We motored out the channel and yes, the sails went up! Through a brief shower, thank you for the wash down, it was perfect. The winds were about 15 knots and delivered a great point of sail. We hit 8 knots, 7.1 over the ground. What a pleasure. We decided to keep the sailboat ⛵️
We pulled into Spanish Cay around 2pm. Took the golf cart to check out the area. The island is 3 miles so it was a quick trip. There was no one in the marina when we arrived and by the time we came back the sail boats were docked and the sport fishing boats just were rolling in with their fresh catch. We met up with Kristen and Rocky on Night Music. They were at Old Bahama Bay at West End when we first met them. Funny how you cross paths days later. We enjoyed a leisurely afternoon and early dinner.
There is not much on Spanish but that is fine with us. Thanks to Chris and Deb and good luck with the resort.
