Sail on Kiwi II

Setting Sail 2024

Pivot

The saying "plans are written in the sand" is poignant when it pertains to cruising.

The original plan was to leave West End via the Indian Cay Channel at high tide and make for Great Sale, then on to the northern Abacos before the next cold front. The timing was tight, but doable.

However, we met a lot of cool sailors while waiting at West End and quickly developed a camaraderie. They also had interesting plans. So, we were "adapted" (most certainly because of Vita) and pivoted to join them!

So, we slipped lines at West End at 0730 and headed out. We had an awesome sail in @ 10 - 15 kts ENE winds to Freeport. We made our way to Lucaya and entered the Bell Channel at dead low tide, where at one point saw 5'3" on entry.

We are currently waiting out the next front which has very strong SSW winds. Having a good time with our new friends.

We have met some very "salty sailors" who always anchor out, but this season are staying at marinas.

Seems like instead of "cruising", we are "hiding" with the challenging weather this season. Not a bad place to hide.

Our next destination is unclear, but we have some ideas. Direction is south!
