50 Shades of Blue
Maybe more shade of blue than you can count and as far as you can see.
We have been at Big Majors for a few days and just cannot tear ourselves away. The anchorage is great, we have met so many great people willing to give us their insights on the area, how to navigate the skinny water or the water depth is great but don't get too close to the sand sprits it is narrow but passable. A-lot to take in. So, we decided to rent a boat to get into some of the areas we felt were just not possible for Kiwi Ii. Brilliant plan!
We went to Rachel's bubble bath. It is a but of a walk once you get there but opens to an area of rocks the water breaks over creating a foamy bubble bath. We met a boy 4 years old, he was fearless! I met his mom and discovered they are from Swathsmere and she teaches at Margaret Mace in Wildwood. What? Such a small world. They have been sailing 6 months out of the year for the last 3 years. Amazing.
We passed the private beach on Johnny Depp’s island. Funny sign, this is not Disney, you are not welcome. Onto Bell Rock, the hike was incredible. There are paths all over the island and Bell's Rock just rises out of the water so cool.
The aquarium is no kidding like being in a tropical aquarium. We saw 2 massive lobsters, turtles and releasing some crackers in the water were swarmed by fish. We have not experienced anything like it.
Rocky Dundas Cave was another highlight of our day. I have a picture from inside looking out at the boat and some inside cave shots.
it was well worth renting the boat with locals that know just where to go and time the tides perfectly. Particularly the cave. Not getting in there at high tide. Is that a plane on a beach! Yep! Over 7-9 different ditched planes during drug running days. Remember Pablo Escobar? We saw one of the ditched planes just off Staniel Cay.
There are so many pictures that we would love to share but there is just not enough space. We hope you enjoy these beautiful photos.
