Sailing with SALLY

Mooloolaba to Fraser Island

We left Mooloolaba at 2am in full wet weather gear as the winds where from the SE 15 to 20 knots and the sea was 2.5mtrs. Torrential rain stayed with us though out the night as we sailed up the coast with just the Jib poled out averaging 6 to 7 knots. we chose to do a night sail as we had to be at the entrance to the Wide Bay Bar for the 11am high tide. Sailing between the outer and inter sand banks with waves breaking on both sides of us does heighten the senses a little. Once inside we sailed up to Garry's anchorage for the night - nice little beach with a fresh water creek. after a days rest we motored up the Sandy Straights to Kingfisher Bay resort for a bit of R&R
