Sailing with SALLY

2022

Keppel Island

We arrived in Gladstone sailing up through the shipping channel with a nice 15 knot SE breeze behind us, first impressions of Gladstone was a very industrial town lots of cranes and large container ships. Gladstone Marina was really nice had very good facilities with nice coffee. We caught up with Ella and her friends and went out to lunch at the sailing club. I hopped off the boat and went with Ella to Hamilton Island for a week where we drank cocktails by the pool bar. While Mustang sally sailed North up through the "Narrows" at Gladstone, you can only get though on high tide as there are areas where it dries at low tide and they walk the cattle across to the other island to feed. I meet up with Sally at Yeppoon. Nice town with a large beach front pool area and some good markets. After stocking Sally with food and water we sailed over to Great Keppel Islands. The Keppel Island has beautiful white sandy beaches with clear blue water - while snorkeling there where heaps of fish - turtles - coral and we even caught a lobster - oyster off the rocks was a nice treat. We have been at the Keppel's now for 10 days and are heading back to Yeppoon to restock Sally and will be heading up to Island Head Creek - Peal Bay - and then out to the Percy Islands.
