This is our final morning in Tonga. Farewells are always bitter sweet and leave us with a feeling of melancholy. Some tears were shed as we received a steady flow of dingys and kayaks. Gifts from Lauri and Chuck, the newlyweds. Craig and Karene. Sea Note. Lorien. Dave on Anahata was particularly hard. Sabir. Second Wind.
But here we go. 10-13ktn out of the south with a one meter swell from the same. A sunny day as we roll along making 4-5 knots on a reach to the west and Fiji over the next 450 nm. We expect that it will stay this way for the full trip, but who knows. Sabir is a few hours ahead of us. Fire Fly is already there; we haven’t seen them for several weeks; they took the route to Western Samoa and are now coming back south. We are traveling with our “buddy boat” Aussie Rules. We’ve been off and on with them since PV and pretty steadily since the Marquesas.
Wendy’s sleeping in the bow. I don’t know how she does it. Too bouncy for me.
