Chester River adventure day 7

15 September 2012 | Choptank River
Carlos/ clear
Bright and early 11ish the dogs and I go to the market for the best muffins ever. Later we head out on a nice breeze back to Cambridge.

Chester River Adventure day 7

14 September 2012 | Not on the Chester/ Knapps Narrows
Carlos / Clear
Heading back, but very slowly :). Since we are in no rush, after all we are are sailors, we decided to tuck into Tilghman Island Marina, take a dip in the pool, wonder around town (must go to the market).
We had a great dinner at Bay Hundred next to the bridge. Wonderful sunset. Maybe will go kayaking in the marshes across in the morning. Night brings a cool front and winds of 30+ knots. It's a little rough but we enjoy it. The Marina is really nice.

Chester River adventure day 6

13 September 2012 | Blacksford Cove
Carlos / clear
Just before sunrise the waterman gently circle the boat laying their lines for the days catch.  As the sun rises its another clear cool day. A squadron of geese in perfect formation circle the boat and land with valet like precision and grace about 50 yards from the boat. Nature here is all in harmony, coexisting in gentle balance and flowing with kind energy. Later will kayak into Queenstown.

Chestertown Adventure day 5

12 September 2012 | Queenstown Creek
Carlos/ clear
Chertertown to Queenstown creek. Lazy easy day. Light winds made us motor mostof the way. Although I did    hoist the sails and putter around for an hour looking for a breeze that never showed up. Rounded Blakeford Point and drop the hook on 6 feet of water. Though be careful it quickly drops to 3-4 feet.
Kayak for a while around the marshes. This should be called blue heron cove since we saw more than half dozen around the shore and trees. Read, played cards & relax.
Although there is nice long beach  for a doggie landing, there are no trespassing signs, so stay below the high water mark and be kind.

Chestertown Adventure day 4

11 September 2012 | Chestertown, Maryland
Carlos
Docked at the Chestertown Marina. Two blocks from town. Great Bakery for breakfast, Great Market for lunch and dinner at Hotel Imperial. OK so we ate our way thru town. But we also walked a lot. Lots of parks, gardens and most important very friendly people. This is quite the picturesque town. With beautiful architecture and brick lined streets.

Chester river adventure day 3

10 September 2012 | Near chestertown Maryland
Carlos / clear
After a cool calm night under the stars we woke up renewed to a cloudless day and a nice breeze.
We raised the anchor under sail and headed up the Chester river under a perfect broad reach. For the next two hours we sailed up river with steady 12 knots winds. Love it. The River offers beautiful views of farms, homes and very active wildlife. Lots of beaches & coves to explore and doggie landings.  We saw lots of blue herons, ospreys, geese, ducks and even one majestic bald eagle. Few fisherman trolling their lines, all nice. As we arrived to Chestertown marina we were greeted with a nice view of the Sultana Schooner.
