Journeying On

The summer has barely begun in Rhode Island and the mornings already seem to be cool, almost a scent of autumn air… How is that possible? There is so much to do. Each day seems to begin and end with a sense of having been floating on air, my feet barely touching the ground. “What is it like now, [...]

Passing Diamond Shoals off Cape Hatteras!!!

There was no warning... the day touting varying winds from the SE to SW, the sails trimmed in and let back out over and over to keep us moving as fast as we could, the engine called upon when we weren't moving fast enough. I was making breakfast when Bob went up on deck responding to a sound... next [...]

Offshore once more: SV Calyspo is heading north!

It seems endless, the need to keep pressing, keep moving, from one point to another, the whole world of details needing to be dealt with upon returning after so long offshore, after having completely detached from the world system. Yet, there is a dream state that wants to believe I would not reattach... [...]

Slow and Steady Persistence Sailing

02 March 2016
Good morning everyone,

INSPIRED INSANITY is still sailing north this morning in variable winds around 10 knots. Not exactly breaking any speed records, but moving.

Donna's position as of late last night was: 21.21S, 84.80W. Progress is slow and Donna's frustrations are growing. There is a bit of distance left to the Panama Canal and all of her patience will be tested over the next several weeks.

Donna has been able to hear the forecast over her SSB radio, so she knows she is in for a long, slow drift through the doldrums before getting headwinds as she nears Panama. She has asked for the SSB frequencies for the Panama net, which Peter M instantly and graciously provided. Thank you Peter, Wolf. Bob McD, and others trying so hard to communicate with II.

I need to get started organizing efforts in Panama for her eventual arrival. Lots of time, organization and money will be involved to get the INSPIRED INSANITY up and over the hills of Central America. Truly, a feat unto itself. We will make it happen.

The Panama Canal, which opened 102 years ago, is not an obstacle, it is a pathway home for Donna and INSPIRED INSANITY. It is 48 miles long and will lift II 85 feet above sea level before gently placing her back at sea level north and east in the Caribbean Sea and Atlantic Ocean. Truly an amazing scenario still to come.

"Ambition is the path to success. Persistence is the vehicle you arrive in." -William Eardley IV.

Donna's ambitious journey has had many twists and turns so far along the way to her success. Her persistence will sail her home to us.

Thank you everyone.

Bob
