Anam Cara
Donna and INSPIRED INSANITY continue to sail to the Panama Canal this morning. She has encountered headwinds and seas which are just making it that much more trying to complete the last distance to the canal. II is located at: 5.320* N, 80.534* W. This is 223 NM from the canal entrance.
Unfortunately, the fabulous CapHorn self steering system aboard Inspired Insanity is now encountering some difficulty steering the boat. This wonderful and simple piece of equipment has steered the boat this far around the world. It has actually has been around the world with Donna once before on her first solo circumnavigation.
As many of you remember, Donna refers to this as "Anam Cara," her "soul mate" at sea, as it keeps her on course day and night without electricity, only simple geometry and physics. Well, even this bit of mechanical genius is asking for a rest at this time. Just a little bit farther. This too will get sorted in Panama.
According to John O'Donahue, the accomplished Irish poet, philosopher and Catholic priest, "When you are blessed with an Anam Cara, the Irish believe, you have arrived at that most sacred place: home." Donna is so very much at home aboard her INSPIRED INSANITY. Donna, INSPIRED INSANITY and her Anam Cara will arrive safely in Panama soon.
