Journeying On

The summer has barely begun in Rhode Island and the mornings already seem to be cool, almost a scent of autumn air… How is that possible? There is so much to do. Each day seems to begin and end with a sense of having been floating on air, my feet barely touching the ground. “What is it like now, [...]

Passing Diamond Shoals off Cape Hatteras!!!

There was no warning... the day touting varying winds from the SE to SW, the sails trimmed in and let back out over and over to keep us moving as fast as we could, the engine called upon when we weren't moving fast enough. I was making breakfast when Bob went up on deck responding to a sound... next [...]

Offshore once more: SV Calyspo is heading north!

It seems endless, the need to keep pressing, keep moving, from one point to another, the whole world of details needing to be dealt with upon returning after so long offshore, after having completely detached from the world system. Yet, there is a dream state that wants to believe I would not reattach... [...]

I just realized that I didn't write any blog the days I was knocked down...though Bob did an incredible job of keeping you updated and with the details...He was totally accurate and you all [...]

Donna: Keep an eye on the TRACKER
Hello to all from Sail Twice Around, Update from Donna:

I have been experiencing a strange forecast reversal, from an experience that has been more intense than the forecast to one that is more becalmed. The last two days, I have been becalmed for more than 12 hours of each day... a mega slow down. And it is interesting that I had been on such a fast track that I was way ahead of schedule...so we are now catching up to that schedule.

There was another rather bleak forecast for tonight and tomorrow... but in the morning Grib files, it appears that the winds will stay up over the night tonight, and only calming for a short time before returning out of the south overnight Thursday to Friday. Our hope is that I will arrive Thursday late afternoon to a photo shoot outside the bay and I will spend the night moored or anchored in Newport awaiting the flotilla that will escort Inspired Sanity and I up the bay to Bristol Friday afternoon.

It has taken me a day or so to let go of the fear of not getting in on time... and I am now enjoying pristine sailing out here... bright sunshine and a lovely following breeze. I am so looking forward to being with you all soon and enjoying the amazing welcoming events... Much gratitude to all who have worked so so very hard to bring all of these events to fruition.

Hold on to those good thoughts of a nice breeze tonight and into tomorrow...!!!

Flotilla leaves dock early from Herreshoff museum to meet Donna by 1100am in bay. Arrival to dock at Herreshoff Museum: 3 pm Refreshements 3-530p Event 530 - 630p Gathering afterwards for BBQ by Invitation for family and team, friends (including those coming from out of town to be with us)

See you all very soon, Big hugs Donna

It was an incredible adventure crossing the canal, and having read David McCullough's book, the Pathway Between the Seas, I took as many photos as I could of this amazing feat of engineering and charismatic vision.
