Anchoring challenges

We anchored right up next to the beach, with beautiful people soaking up the sun, swimming and having fun with friends. Vicarious was the center of attention as we anchored and went to work rinsing off the salt and setting up our sun shades.
Kathleen was busy rinsing off salt when I grabbed fins, mask and snorkle and went in to check out the anchor situation. Our anchor had not set, since the bottom was rather hard and had a bunch of rocks and coral all over. The guide book warned that the boats at anchor here will dance all over in the light winds and current, so I wasn't happy with our anchoring. I tried moving the anchor myself, but a 66 lb anchor and 3/8 inch chain is quite heavy! I managed to move it forward about 6 feet on three breaths of air, but we needed more room from the boats behind us.
Kathleen started the motor and I raised the anchor from the bow, and we motored about 50 feet closer to the beach to anchor again. Once again all eyes from the beach were on us, and we got the hook set and all was well.
It is too late to check in with Customs and Immigration, so we'll take care of that tomorrow. The bummer is that there is a great beach bar right in front of us, and we can't go there yet! It looks like we'll be mixing up cocktails on the "sailing yacht" Vicarious tonight!
