We left GTC (Green Turtle Cay) yesterday morning at first light and made it to Great Sale Cay much later than we had planned. The current and the wind got us. The water was pretty darn flat on the little Bahamas bank and so I made dinner of mussels in white wine, garlic and butter sauce with broccoli and black olive pasta! It was a good use of the hot boring trip. Dinner was all done when we finally anchored at 6PM!

The weather looks good for our departure tomorrow morning early! It was so flat and still again today that the sky and water looked as one. There was no horizon at all! Several times I went out on the bow to look for shoals or coral heads, but all I saw were starfish! So neat. I was hoping to see dolphin, but just the constellation of starfish greeted me. That's just fine.

I was able to do mundane chores like defrost the freezer and clean the fridge it was so calm today. No wind to speak of. We will have a long motor across the gulf stream tomorrow, but it should be a nice crossing!

The anchorage at West End is a crazy river with a very rapid current. Spencer cleaned the bottom while hanging onto a rope and I used about a 70 ft line to play around at the back of the boat letting myself out and then hand over hand coming back to the boat. I dared not make a mistake and release because I had tried swimming against the current and I couldn't swim fast enough to have made it back to the boat. Spencer had said he would have just let the dinghy go and I could have let it float to me, but I made it just fine and had a blast! The video will be on the DVD!

I want to write more, but I need to get up early and since we put out two anchors to try and combat the turning of the tide we might be up at 0130 to reset the back up fortress anchor. We decided too late to change it to the smaller spade.
