Los Gatos... y MAS Gatos!

Meri
The marina at Marina Mazatlan is full of kitties... yes, muchos gatos. They are feral cats... not wanting to be petted and fawned over. They are skittish and shy. There are many... way too many. But they are so cute and it is so good to watch them frolicking with one another. The condo owners and probably long-term marina residents feed them, so they are not starving and it is even unlikely that they know how to catch a bird... don't have to. I will say that I have not seen a single rat or mouse... and yes, I saw plenty of full size rats running around the rocks walls in Santa Rosalia. I am thinking Santa Rosalia would be better off having a kitty or two running about the marina grounds. I found out from a boat owner here that several of the kitties have been caught, given shots and neutered to help keep the feline population down. They clip the ends of one ear on all the cats that have been "fixed". Quite sensible, I think. They are the highlight of my morning, as they are the most active then. They are so enjoyable to watch as they sneak up on one another and pounce, chase each other, and hiss/purr to their hearts content. Carolyne was recently given the task of feeding the cats while the regular feeder, Don on 'TG Wazoo', was away for a few day. Simple pleasures!
