We had an interesting trip to Picnic Island Thursday evening. Me and the girls met up at the Bowditch Point pier due to low and falling tide that would have trapped us back at the home dock. Watched grey and black clouds pile up to our west and a large area of rain on the local radar... It started raining before we left the dock and continued until midnight. We anchored close to the island in 8 ft of water but the wind piped up and was swinging us a little too close to the beach so we weighed anchor and moved out to where the charts showed 11 ft. That's where we ran aground! Apparently the shoals on the chart have migrated 100 yards toward Sanibel. We got off pretty soon on the rising tide. Re-anchored and slept well despite 15 to 20 knot winds all night.
