Waiting on anchor
11 July 2014 | Porto Vecchio
Hot, sunny and windy
We are still in Porto Vecchio waiting for the strong winds to die down. Have been on anchor most of the time but decided to shelter in the marina (at 48 euro's a night) for 3 days, the wind is slightly less now so back on anchor just outside of the marina.
While we had a lull in the wind for a day last Sunday we motored Duet 5 miles to a beautiful bay with turquoise water and white sand, we anchored in 2 meters of gorgeous clear water and swam from the boat, then had a bbq on board and stayed there for the night, it was great.
Two days ago we decided to don our new lycra cycle shorts and try to find another lovely turquoise beach that is located just behind the mountain right in front of us, although we were told it should have taken us only 45 minuets, after one and a half hours (on our very small wheeled fold up bikes) and walking up half the mountain side and still no beach in sight, Gill through a wobbler and decided to turn around and call it a day! We did the same journey today, via the bus, this time we were successful and found the fabulous beach we were looking for!
We hope to move on again Tuesday as the forecast looks promising at the moment.
