Sunny and hot
We made the crossing from Bastia in Corsica in 9 hours, in sunny weather with light winds, so we motor sailed most of the way, only managing 30 minutes sailing ! Gill was happy with the fairly calm seas.
After anchoring in the sheltered bay we went ashore to explore Elba, we had a delicious pizza for 9 Euros and later a tasty ice cream for 3 euros, so not as expensive as France !
Later we found the tourist office , they gave us directions to the Internet specialist, Euronics, we got there after a 30 minuet walk in 32 degree's heat of the day to be told we needed our passports to do anything (which of course we had left on the boat)! We should have learn't this from previous experience but completely forgot! After walking back we picked up our passports and headed back before they closed, the internet is now connected at a total cost of 117 euro's (for 3 months use with a company called TIM, which we were advised was very good)?
We also enquired to how much it is to stay in the marina should we need to, it is 102 euro's per night plus electric and water, we were shocked so have bought some extra strong chain to set up a tandem anchoring rig, to be prepared for the 30 knots winds forecast for Sunday with a thunderstorm forecast for Monday, then back to normal hot, sunny and calm again we hope) ?
We like the anchorage we are in as it seems very sheltered and close to the main town with a large co-op superstore right in front where we tie up our dingy, by the way the electric outboard engine is working very well being charged with the 20 watt solar panel, long may it continue!
