SAMMNET

The "South African Maritime Mobile Net" was started on the 26th October 1979.
By the late Alistair Campbell ZS5MU and his wife Davina ZS5GC

Graham Griggs ZS2ABK has taken over the net and is assisted by Sam Maree ZS1SAM as secondary controller.
Graham is based at Bushman's River Mouth. East Cape. South Africa.
Sam is based at Glencairn Heights close to Simonstown. Western Cape.

The "South African Maritime Mobile Net" operates on "Ham Radio frequencies" twice daily 7 days a week 365 days a year and provides weather reports from around the coast and the deep-sea areas and maintains contact with yachts off the coast of South Africa and deep-sea areas from Brazil and Argentina to the West and Australia to the East up into the Mozambique channel the Seychelles and Maldives area.
There are two regular schedule times as follows:
06:30 UTC: Starts on 14.316 MHz USB for +/- 5 minutes, and then moves to 7.120 MHz LSB.
11:30 UTC: On 14.316 MHz USB into Indian Ocean for +/- 10 Minutes and then in to the Atlantic Ocean.
