Was it something we said?
25 September 2014 | New Haven Harbor
Last year we had an amazing trip down the ICW. What makes these trips so much fun and memorable is all of the friends that you meet along the way. When we're cruising in New England we would never think of randomly taking our dinghy over to another boat and introducing ourselves. When you're in the ICW, it's almost expected and your rightly considered rude if you blast past a couple having sundowners.
We made lots of great friends by wandering over, introducing ourselves, and swapping stories. Some would become cruising buddies that we would stay with for weeks; others would float in and out of our lives but always staying in touch through texting, email, or SSB.
As we started to make plans for year two of our ICW/Bahamas adventure we were excited to meet up with lots of our cruising friends. One by one they started to drop out. "Sorry, I think we're going to take a year off. Maybe next year."
"I think we're just going to stay close to home."
Chrisy and I are beginning to think - "Was it something we said? Did we do something to offend them? We might be a little obnoxious, but it would have been hard to offend all of them."
To our cruising buddies from 2013-2014 - we are in New Haven, Ct, enjoying a rainy day on the boat - day three of our trip south. It's a little chilly, obviously damp, and you're looking pretty good inside by a nice fire with a hot cup of coffee and the newspaper.
We miss you and hope that all is well.
