And we are back on Sanderling...!
24 January 2015 | Lake Sylvia, Fort Lauderdale
After a fabulous visit to RI, Massachusetts, Maine and Pennsylvania, visiting with our children, family and friends, we have headed to warmer weather and arrived in Fort Pierce, Florida last Sunday. It feels great to be back on Sanderling and we have to admit, the warmer weather is very attractive. Two full days of driving to Florida did not exhaust us completely as we spent the next two days making the rounds to BJs, Walmart, grocery stores, West Marine, Home Depot, Petco, Staples, Bank of America, back to West Marine and Home Depot a few more times, Ace Hardware, pharmacies, etc... Sanderling's water line has probably just dropped 2 inches but we are all stocked up for our Bahamian adventure....
We pulled off the docks in Fort Pierce on Wednesday and cruised the ICW to Lake Worth, enjoying the manatees, dolphins, and egrets. It was pretty quiet... Where is everyone?? Probably already in the Bahamas or the Florida Keys....After a peaceful evening in the Lake Worth anchorage, we went out the inlet and sailed all the way to the Port Everglades inlet (awesome sail!!) and have been in Lake Sylvia, Fort Lauderdale ever since, just waiting for the next weather window. We have had a fun evening with our friends Suzy and Dave on Cay Paraiso and had a spur of the moment lunch with three women from Chrisy's childhood days who just happened to be having a "gals week" in Fort Lauderdale and thanks to Facebook, we ran into each other on the beach! Small world!
So here we wait.... For the next good weather window to cross to the Bahamas.... Stay tuned everyone!
