One of those days

Well, some days it's just better to stay in bed, but alas, we couldn't, we had to move the boat. We were only going to move it to the other side of the dock. That required us backing out of the slip, moving over about ten feet and pulling back in. We were told that we had to move right away because they had another boat coming in. Sooo Wes started the starboard engine then tried the port. all I heard was the engine alarm. The same sound that I heard when we nearly drifted into the bridge. He tried a couple more times to no avail. Finally he went into the engine room only to find that the battery casing was bulging out and the battery was hot!! Not moving the boat today. Besides, we had company coming and we wanted the rest of the day to go well.
Irene and her friend Sam arrived around noon. We toured "Sandy Paws" which was no mean feat for Sam, you see, he's 6'5" tall and must do a great deal of ducking. After a short visit on the boat we moved on over to the tender, hooked it up and drove over to the launching site. All's well, well almost. After finally getting a chance to launch we tried to start the motor. DEJA MOO...the feeling that you've experience this bull before. The motor wouldn't start, the battery was dead and after Sam slipping and falling into the water...twice we decided to call it quits. Sam went shopping, Wes and I took the tender back and we all went to lunch. We had a WONDERFUL day. It helps to have a good sense of humor while living aboard a boat. Sam and Irene assured us that they would return for a visit and we assured them we would already have the tender in the water and ready to go.
