We are berthed in the marina at Rosslyn Bay which is confusingly called the Keppel Sands Marina. We arrived Monday after a rolly night at Great Keppel Island in 20-30knot SE winds. We left Mooloolaba on the previous Tuesday 27 April at 8pm and motored up to the Wide Bay bay in a mistly moonlight night. The Bar was flat and we ran with the tide all the way to Kingfisher bay and anchored. We were so tired we forgot to drop the main! We woke up after a couple of hours sleep wondering why we faced East and not with the tide. Much embarrassment!
Then motoring on to Bundaberg Port Marina on a windless day with flat seas. The new propellor and coupling performed well although the prop is a little underpitched. I will increase the pitch when we find some clear, crocodile free water- probably in the Dukes Islands or Scawfell.
We waited a day at Bundy and the wind kicked in- 25knots all the way to Pancake for the night and then onto Great Keppel where Svensons rolled particularly at high tide. Then into Rosslyn Bay. We leave early Saturday for Pearl Bay and points north.
Whilst here we have had our skin checks by a young doctor who looked like he was in high school. He was very thorough and we got a clean bill of health. Then dinner with our friends the 2 Ronnies on Aussie Clipper. This marina is their base. Last night we had dinner with long time friends, Neil and Deidre Railton at Emu Park. Neil will sail with us on his yacht "Kings Ransom"
So far the boat is going well with only a minor repair on the steering system (one pulley needed adjustment. Picture is of Melinda riveted to the second of the Stieg Larsson novels.
