26 April 2017 | Cayman Islands
Virginia and Dennis Johns
We did an overnight passage from Montego Bay, Jamaica to Cayman Brac in the Cayman Islands. We had about 2 hours of great sailing out of Montego Bay and then we had absolutely no wind, had to motor that long passage and we got lots of rain even had to put on our foulies. We arrived here on Sunday morning about 11:00. A few hours later we heard a call from the vessel Sweetie telling the Port Authority that they were approaching and wanted to check in. We met Sweetie in Panama and were excited to be meeting up with them again. We knew they were headed to the Caymans about the same time as us but never imagined that we would meet on this exact island, on the same day, arriving from different directions. Us from Jamaica, them from Columbia. And we are the only two cruising boats here...amazing.
We are having fun catching up. There is great snorkeling here. We both head to Cuba next and will leave here Thursday morning and buddy boat for an overnight 80 mile run to the Jardines archipelago on the southern coast of Cuba.
All's well aboard.
