We have spent the last few days exploring the bays of the Gulf of Korfezi. Today we are back in Cokertme, anchored in the bay (see Gallery). We have just had a man in a dinghy deliver the most delicious homemade ice cream. He suggested that if we did not like it we could ‘have his boat’. His ownership of the boat was very safe! Tomorrow we go into Bodrum for reprovisioning.
Lunar eclipse 16 July
We were well positioned to see the predicted lunar eclipse, anchored in a very quiet bay with a few other yachts and a number of gulets. The only problem was that we had a cloudy sky, we have had very few clouds for weeks. But by 9.00pm the clouds parted and we had a perfect view of the moon for the eclipse starting at 9.30. It was not as spectacular as the red moon we saw last year but it is still rather amazing.
Update of the close encounter with a VIP
The following day when leaving our anchorage, two Turkish navy boats were patrolling the entrance to the bay, making sure no boats entered bay. The VIP must have been someone very important indeed!
A tour of SCII
Now that we have decent internet coverage, here is the promised video of inside SCII.
Having almost completed the charter yacht catalogue over the last 25 years, we are fulfilling our long term dream of living the endless summer. In April 2017 we purchased our yacht and plan to spend several months every year in the Med.
