We left Ahe and started out for Rangiroa at the crack of 1 o'clock in the afternoon. It is eighty-eight nautical miles to our next piece of paradise. The expected time of arrival in Rangiroa is 09:00.
During Laird's night watch, he heard what sounded like a whale blowing out and it was very close by. He looked out & around the boat with his flashlight but couldn't find what made the noise.
In the morning we saw the hull of Winterlude.... not sure what this could be, but it looks like whale snot!
Rangiroa anchorage. Plenty of sailboats here. We are anchored in front of the Kia Ora Resort & Spa. Yes, Spa!!
Rangiroa is the largest atoll in the Tuamotu. If you were to pick up the island of Tahiti / Tahiti-iti, it would fit inside the atoll of Rangiroa!
It didn't take us long to get organized, in the dinghy and over to the dock at Kia Ora.
Is it bad that the first thing we checked out was the bar?...
Then we found the Tahitian black pearl shop...
Eenie meenie, minie, moe.....
Think she likes it?!?!
It was time for a bite of lunch on the patio. What a view!
Cold one anybody?
Look where we are!
We were back on board Winterlude with enough time for a nap & a shower and then we are back at the resort for an evening cocktail.
"Tooyaeh" or "To-ya-eh"! They know how to make Pina Coladas here: coconut gelato, pineapple juice & Tahitiah Rum...
Even the glass of Tahiti's only coral winery is garnished with a flower.
