When there's company on board and the northers are blowing, its time for a roadtrip! Marie & Charlie arrived in the middle of a 12 day blow.... there is a lot to see on the Baja!
El Triunfo is a great place - Cafe El Triunfo for lunch.
There was a population of 10,000 people here in the late 1800s and early 1900s. This smokestack was designed by Gustav Eiffel.
If you look closely, you will see Charlie's feet peeking out from under the smoke stack. Boys!
Harley Davidson Avenue! In our little El Triunfo!
Another day of 20 knots plus of wind blowing from the north.... what to do? Let's go to La Ventana - kite boarding mecca!
Playa Central is THE place to have a beverage and to watch the kite boarders.
They have a lovely and very comfortable upper deck.
Waaaay comfortable!
The waves were 3-5 feet and the winds were 20 knots plus.... these wind warriors were having a blast! Lots of women out on the water too.
The community is eclectic and artistic - very fun.
Camping on the beach is the way to stay here. Some of the "camps" are very comfortable.
We had commandeered Scottie from s/v Dulcinea and his Suburban for the day. He suggested we go to Bahia de los Muertos. There is a resort here that has tried to change the name to Bahia de los Suenos - the Bay of Dreams. The resort is the Gran Sueno.
Tropical cocktails at the Gran Sueno bar. Salut!
We asked Cristian if we could wander around the property and take a look. When he said "sure!" we set off. Grand Palapa, here we come!
There is a private dining room with kitchen where you can request to have your meal(s).
A view from one of the bathrooms.
The pool area is serene and welcoming.
After the resort, we went down to the beach and checked out the beach palapa. Saw this sign there.... could've used this back in the day.
