This weekend the Sophster and I finally cut, sanded and attached our new behind the table storage shelf. we bumped out our table about 8 inches from the bulkhead with a 2"x8"piece of Mahogany then built the shelves to fit just inside the table out of 1"x7" stock. I was fine until we actually mounted it to the bulkhead and it looked totally crooked, I was starting a string of four letter words as Sophi was figuring a way to make it all look ok. thankfully she was onboard and had a plan. with some minor adjusting we now have a great looking, functional shelving unit that will get more useful with time. we plan on adding at least 2 more shelves and would like ideas on how to store/secure plates vertically on the bottom shelf

Sophi and I have been busy this week. Last weekend we bought some African Mahogany to build shelving behind our folding table but were too lazy to cut any of the wood into shape, maybe this weekend. we also bought epoxy and hardener to fill in our foredeck area that was cracked. I mixed the two as recommended [...]

Sophi and I have been busy this week. Last weekend we bought some African Mahogany to build shelving behind our folding table but were too lazy to cut any of the wood into shape, maybe this weekend. we also bought epoxy and hardener to fill in our foredeck area that was cracked. I mixed the two as recommended and waited for it to start to "kick" then poured it into the troughs I made with the grinder. water will be held out but we still have some sanding and painting to do. This was the first time either of us had ever used anything related to fiberglass but it will not be our last.

Just for fun we went sledding at Fort Williams aka Portland Head Light and got some sweet air and sore butts. Even still it was a good break.

When we got home we planned on winterizing our engine as a cold spell was forecasted bringing temps into the -20 degree area. The process was very uncomplicated, I shut the Sea cock, and pulled the sea strainer out, then Sophi started the engine while I dumped about 2 gallons into the piping, thus protecting our engine until it warms up a little.

I have also been questioning our thermostat because I cant remember the last time the engine was hot. To test it I pulled it out and put it and a thermometer, in a pot of water destined to boil. The thermostat opened at about 170 degrees to my delight. Next time I run the engine I will be sure to have her in gear longer

For those who don't know, I live with my girlfriend Sophi on our Down Easter 32. there is never a dull moment onboard as we have two furry friends Franky our Maine Coon cat and Bella our Caren Terrier. both love to play and it can get crazy.

we hope take the show on the road (Casco Bay) as soon as the tepms climb to gain more sailing experiance before we cut our dock lines for good and head off into the sunset
