Grand Bay Resort

01 August 2013 | Barra Navidad
Couldn't turn down the rate they were offering at the marina in Barra so we spent three weeks swimming in their beautiful pool, playing Mexican Train with Bev and Bob on Yemaya and checking out the great restaurants in town. Oh and let's not forget the French Baker who came over to the docks every morning with fresh pastries.
The Resort Hotel was kind enough to give the cruisers a cocktail party every Thursday along with appetizers and live music. Now how many marina's have that. It was hard to leave.

A trip to town!

28 June 2012 | Barra Navidad
A fun ride into town on a water taxi for the high price of 20 pesos both ways!
This is one great little town with many good restaurants of which we tested for the good of other cruisers.

Lunch out!

28 June 2012 | Barra Bay
This bay looks great now. However, when we sailed in we had 20+knots of wind on the nose. Getting the sail down was a nightmare since one of the battens had worn through the pocket and got stuck on the mast. Ten years ago it would have been a piece of cake but balancing on a narrow ledge with the boat rolling and pitching at my now tender age was making me nervous. A few choice words had Ron put the boat on auto and between us we managed to get the sail down and get ready to enter the channel.

Located on 20 acres on the outskirts of Kingstown. These beautiful gardens grow the breadfruit tree from the original plant brought by Capt.Bligh (of The Bounty fame) in 1793. One of the gardeners here picked a bag full of Grapefruit for us. How sweet they were.

01 June 2012 | Prickly Pear, Grenada
Prickly Pear anchorage is where we met lots of international cruisers. This seems to be a good place to leave boats during hurricane season since there must have been over a hundred on the hard. Fat Fish Barr and Restaurant seemed to be a favourite hang out for the cruisers. This was a busy place and the food was great.

22 May 2012 | Tobago Cays Marine Park
Anchoring in 10-12 feet of beautiful clear pale blue water. Bob, Glennis and Mike snorkeled over to the Turtle Sanctuary designated by the marker bouys. Thought this might be a little too strenuous for Ron & I since there was quite a strong current.
