Excruciating

I have been sailing at 1 knot or less for hours towards a tidal gate at Race Rocks I know is closed to me by a strong ebb. It is agonizingly close, but I am travelling at an excruciating pace.
The only saving grace beyond what lies just 8 mils past the headland you see in this picture is the almost perfect conjunction of the Moon and Venus.
Although entirely unncessary, my curiosity got the better of me and I measured the angular distance between the two for one last time check. Just for fun this time as I'm fairly of where I am. More importantly, I know where I am headed.
I am headed home. And home is just around the corner no matter what time it is.
