Binic to St-Cast-Le-Guildo

Overcast
Sunday 15 August 2010
We left the shelter of Binic just before 1100 hours there was a fresh 12 knot Northwesterly wind blowing. The sails were set and very quickly making 6 knots through the water. The wind slowly increased into the high teens so a reef was set into the sails. It was raining and although we were making good speed towards St-Cast. This meant we were ahead of schedule and would have a foul tide round the headland at Cap Frehel.
By the time we arrived off Cap Frehel we were indeed ahead of schedule and although we were making nearly 7 knots through the water the tide was 3 knots against us, meaning we were only making less than 4 knots over the ground. The sea state was wind against tide making for a very lumpy sea. We slowly rounded Cap Frehel and changed course to head towards St-Cast-Le-Guildo.
On arrival at St-Cast-Le-Guildo it stopped raining and the sun come out and it stated to get warm. In the evening we ate onboard and had a short walk around the marina.
Monday 16 August 2010
A nice sunny day warm day, best we have seen for a few days.
In the morning we walked along the coast bath into St-Cast-Le-Guildo, about 1 mile. St-Cast-Le-Guildo is a lively holiday town with some nice beaches, restaurants and cafe's. We stopped for a coffee before returning back to the marina.
In the afternoon we did some domestic work and used the wifi in the marina office.
We had meet up with Clare and Adrian off Larissa which is a Bavaria 36 and they invited us round for evening drinks. Later on we ate ashore at one of the local restaurants in the marina.
Tuesday 17 August 2010
An overcast morning with some light showers, in the afternoon it did warm to over 20C and the sun made an appearance. We had another walk into the town and along the beach. In the evening we ate onboard.
