We have enjoyed our time here in Neiafu. We met with Scallywag for a good meal at the Mango cafe, a lovely spot right on the waterfront, and caught up with yacht Freya. They had joined us on the Atlantic Odyssey and we had last seem them in Marigot Bay, St Lucia, so we were very excited to see them and their three children, who seemed to have matured and gained confidence in the months since we have seen them. We have noticed this with cruising kids, they become confident little individuals as time goes on. We have had fun exploring the hustle and bustle of Neiafu, the vibrant market, and the active ex pat community here. Hooray, our gas bottles are filled! Greg at the Tropicano cafe had an adaptor and had all our bottles filled for us! We also managed to get more battens for the sail, another boat had a whole lot that they weren't using anymore - how lucky is that! We took the dinghy down to the end of the bay, and motored up a narrow lagoon and walked across the causeway to the other side of the island. It was low tide and the reef was covered in sea urchins and star fish, so we had to be very careful where we trod. Neil snorkelled off the edge of the reef where it dropped off and saw fish but not much else as the water was not very clear. Today a large amount of boats cleared in, and Bright Moments have arrived. They followed us to Suwarrow and also had a great time there. We had a brief catch up last night and look forward to seeing more of them while we are here. This morning Neil's brother Gordon and his wife, Claire are joining us on the boat. They will be with us for a week and we look forward to exploring more of Vavau with them.
