IC 11/16 - Holed up in Hilton Head at the Windmill Marina home of the South Carolina Yacht Club. Very interesting marina, they have a lock system to let in one boat at a time. The marina is always at a constant level with no current or tidal effects. I'm told only one of three on the east coast. We were [...]

IC 10/31 - Happy Halloween
The trip to Wrightsville Beach really was a long one. Started early (7:30 AM) and arrived late (5:30 PM). Dealing with the opening and closing of bridges their schedule and timing of arrival made this leg a different challenge. Getting to the bridge early and you would have to wait and avoid other boats that have arrived early. Getting there late could mean an hour wait. My timing was pretty good on time but I held back a good distance and when the bridge started to open make a mad dash not to get shut out. Anchoring out in what seemed to be a large area was interesting when you make it very crowded with 18 boats plus others not part of the group. Planning on how much anchor line to put out to allow the boat to swing with wind and current and not hit another boat and have them do the same. In the end it all worked out. On Tuesday we left for a short trip to Southport NC a much shorter day only about 18 k miles. Although short, lots of changing current, with us against us and pushing us out of our desired course.
Halloween pot luck supper tonight before we leave for South Carolina and Myrtle Beach. Too much food but a great variety. Made my buffalo chicken dip and that disappeared. Other appetizers were two types' guacamole and deviled eggs. Had rice with chicken curry, chili (two varieties) and a salmon spread. For dessert chocolate candy and miniature cupcakes. Who needs a restaurant?
Tomorrow it's another long day down to Myrtle Beach and it looks like a great marina, we will find out???
problems with internet and pictures, will try tomorrow.....
