Oh, Joy!!

16 January 2008
Day 4- Tuesday, 1-15-08 - Sandestin to Panama City, Standard Mile 290

We cast off our lines from Baytowne Marina at 6:10 a.m. bound for Panama City, FL. The sunrise was pretty, but it was cold (40 degrees) and mostly cloudy Although we put up the mainsail for a while, we motored the entire trip. While preparing cocoa for a mid-afternoon snack, Sara and Jean discovered that the water system in the boat was not working. Oh, joy, another opportunity for boat maintenance. We made good time and were at the Panama City Marina by 2:30 p.m. After we fueled, pumped out, and moved to our assigned slip, Roger and Gerry began to troubleshoot the water system while we awaited the arrival of Don and Alice King, who were taking us to dinner. On the way to dinner, we picked up parts for the water system. After an excellent barbeque dinner and wonderful conversation with the Kings, with much *#&*! and consternation, Roger and Gerry repaired the water system and restored running water to the boat. Another crisis averted by our intrepid on-board boat maintenance and repair specialists. Our neighbors in the next slip are also Bahamas bound in a 35' Hunter. Gale force winds expected tomorrow.
