Getting Ready for the Maiden Voyage Part 2
11 October 2012 | Me in California / INNcredible in Portugal
It won't be long before the sails are up and the INNcredible Sea Lodge will be on its way to the Gran Canaries. From there at November's end five of us set sail across the Atlantic for the New World. The warm waters of the Caribbean await and will be our reward for braving the crossing. From St. Lucia on the INNcredible Sea Lodge has room for guests and that could be you.
If you so moved that you would rather live the dream, if only for a week or two, than dream away as opportunities sail by, contact me brianbearfitz@gmail.com for the Maiden Voyage schedule. There are a number of opportunities for you, your family and/or your friends to hop on/hop off along the way.
And for everyone the opportunity to follow the INNcredible crossing will be found at worldcruising.com. We are participating in the ARC (Atlantic Rally Crossing) which is a race from Las Palmas to St. Lucia and you can learn all about it at their website listed above. With over 250 sailing vessels participating the start will be quite a spectacle where the finish will be spread out as each boat arrives in Rodney Bay.
More later but now its time to save your spot aboard the INNcredible Sea Lodge.
Lisboa's Gilbekian Museum
13 August 2012 | Lisboa
A wealthy Armenian businessman invested 10% of his annual income to accumulate art. And in gratitude to Portugal's safe harbor afforded him in his time of need he willed his vast collection and funds to start a museum. On exhibit are treasures from ancient Egypt spanning three millennium. Wow! Here's a group of ladies intrigued with admiring their own images in the mirror of water. A must see in Lisboa and FREE entry on Sundays.
The Age of Discovery
13 August 2012 | Belem near Lisboa
The great age of discovery when Portuguese sailors ventured far and away round the tip of Africa to the spice kingdoms of India and the Orient and way more. Amazing in the 15th and 16th centuries when adventurers like Henry the navigator, Vasco Da Gama and Bartolomeu Dias to name just a few sailed beyond one's imagination with the faith that the world was really round.
Here I am standing in awe of such adventure where their characters have been immortalized in stone. What looks like the Golden Gate bridge in the background does so because it was designed by the same architect.
