Icw day 34

Anchored last night in Broad Creek mm 173. Nice anchorage about 7-8 ft. Long channel in about 2 miles. Beautiful area.

Icw day 31

After a twelve hour trip from western bay mile marker 410 we made it to mm 311.5 South Harbour Village marina. Starting at high tide and ending at high tide helped us through the narrow parts of the icw including Foley’s inlet. Love the marina and they give boat us discounts on fuel and dockage. Great bistro called Joseph’s. Staying an extra night as the weather is suppose to turn bad later today.

Icw day 30

We anchored in western bay off of Mile post 410last night after a 10 1/2 day from Charleston. That included a 2 hour stop/anchor before the isle of palm bridge due to shoal I gotta we needed to wait for the rising tide. western bay allowed the breeze to flow thru the cabins last night. When is wind is slack beware of the black flies. Left at 6:35 am hoping to make NC tonight.

Icw day 29 leaving Charleston north bound

Well after staying 3 days in Charleston due to the Ben Sawyer Bridge breakdown we left at 830 am to hopefully reach the mcclaninville area at high tide this afternoon. Alas we made it thru the Bridge only to be stopped a mile up river. Three sailboats are aground and two are anchored. A dredge is working on the channel and they radioed us not to go any further. So we will be anchored here for a few hours. Of course that will interfere with our high tide in mcclaninville. We may be anchoring again. Oh well it is only 88 degrees of the 102 forecasted and we do have wind!

Icw day 27 Charleston

Well we made it to Charleston yesterday. One of the hottest days on the water with zero wind. Left Bull River at 8 arrived in Charleston T 230 which was perfect for slack tide. Of course the wind finally came out just as we were going into the slip. We definitely needed a mide tide leaving a Bull River, which we did not have. Ashepoo cuttoff and Fenwick cut are very shallow. Watts cut is not much better. We are staying in Charleston 2 nights to get a little relief from the heat. We should head out at slack tide tomorrow around 1045 and make the very shallow mcclanenville cut at high tide of 442pm. Hate leaving that late but we really do not have a choice.

Icw day 12&13 Charleston SC

Arrived in Charleston on May 12. Today was a little hairy, bad weather, low, low tide and several groundings. Note to self do not take Mile 425-433 at low tide. Several areas with only 3.6ft of water. I think we helped deepen the channel. Very stormy while docking, once we tied the last line the sun came out and the wind stopped, go figure. On a good note we arrived safe and sound so it could of been a lot worse. Toured Charleston on the 13th by way of horse drawn carriage which was very informative, food here is great as well as the service at the city marina. Leaving the morning of the 14th hoping to make Beaufort SC.
