It was great to leave the hustle & bustle of Annapolis and find a couple of quiet, secluded anchorages on the Chesapeake. My attempt at catching some Dungeness crab with chicken on a hook resulted in one big chicken-loving eel- which totally grossed me out until friends reminded me of various eel delicacies…. We threw him back in to squirm around another day.
We’re finding that we need a few quiet days in beautiful secluded anchorages to regroup before joining the humans again…… that will happen Friday through Sunday at the Hylas rendezvous in St Michael’s….
We’re getting into the groove of living aboard…. watching our power, water & fuel usage, keeping track of the weather at least twice a day, planning our next-day’s anchorage or marina.
Our land-based life ( work, house, stock market, bills, etc) is rarely discussed other than concerns for family & friends we left behind for a short time. Perspective & priorities change when living on a boat. We’ll be watching the weather closely for our next big move
(probably next week sometime) from Cape Charles outside on the big ocean around Hatteras to Beaufort, NC (2 or 3 nights, nonstop)..
