Puerto Rico
02 May 2013 | Southern coast
We spent most of April cruising the southern coast of Puerto Rico. The not so good part is we had to motor into the wind the entire time so no sailing. I told Harry when we do get to put up our mainsail again, it will probably have spiders and rats coming out of it. We would leave really early in the morning before the trade winds build and then just motor to the next harbor in 3-4 hours. The good part is we were able to see a lot of beautiful Puerto Rico and especially the southern coast. Also, I got my Walmart and Sam’s club fix in Ponce. Being in the PR is like being back in the USA. Every chain store you can think of is also in PR and prices are great. Almost everyone speaks English, as it is now required in school. PR just did a test vote to see if there is support for them to be the 51st state and it passed by 60% so I think you will see the process actually starting in the near future. It has the largest per capital income of the entire Caribbean island and is extremely developed. We love PR but we do feel like we are back home. Since we did a lot of touring the last time we were there we didn’t tour this time but just did a lot of walking around. I don’t have a lot of pictures. I kept forgetting my camera. I would highly recommend to anyone a vacation in PR. Flights are cheap and there is tons to do and see.
